Current position in LBEET: PhD candidate
Short CV: Savvas Giannis Mastropetros has a diploma in Chemical Engineering from the department of Chemical Engineering of the University of Patras (2018). He conducted his diploma thesis research in the Laboratory of Biochemical Engineering and Environmental Technology, focusing on agricultural wastewater treatment through microalgal cultivation, as well as the production of high added value products. He has participated in the Online Conference of Young Scientists (Mineral Resources-Environment-Chemical Engineering, Kozani, February 26-28, 2021) presenting his research on the cultivation of Chlorella vulgaris in anaerobic digestion effluents with different concentrations of ammonia nitrogen.
Research Activities: • post-treatment of anaerobically treated wastes, via microalgae cultivation under different growth conditions • bioplastics’ production from microalgae and cyanobacteria, in combination with wastewater treatment • analysis of biomass composition in a variety of microalgal species
